Course Description:

Studies have shown that exercise is a vital component of any child’s development, hence it is very important to lay the foundation for a healthy life. “Fun Fitness” is a unique blend of fun and fitness activities that have been designed to ensure that children have wholistic approach to being fit, as well as having the ability to apply the basic concepts and principles of Physical Fitness without taking much stress through enjoyable, theme based stories and structured games making them refreshed, recharged and revitalized by the end of each session.

 My fun fitness class has 4 elements viz – Warm up, Core exercises, games and cool down. To keep the class more attractive and interactive we use music and movement, mindfulness, a blend of yoga with interactive stories, meditation and games.

Fun fitness clubs aim to make children more focused with general awareness and most importantly increasing their immunity, stamina, strength especially during these of COVID times.

Each session of fun fitness club starts with warm up which includes music and movement to develop and refine their social, emotional and cognitive skills.

It also includes core exercise to develop their balance, agility, endurance, speed, flexibility, focus and concentration.

This includes games to develop their gross and fine motor skills, body and mind coordination, eye-hand coordination, confidence and problem solving skills. Each wholesome session ends up with cool down which gives them mental peace, calmness and relaxation.

With this, l hope children would definitely love to be a part of Fun Fitness Club while sitting at home without missing their outdoor play.

  • Who likes to run, jump, skip, hop, twist, turn, kick, swing, curl and balance
  • Who wants to explore different games, sports, rhythm and dance
  • Who desires to be fitter, sportier, healthier and happier
  • Who loves asking questions about health, wellness and fitness
  • Who shows interest towards outdoor activities like football, basketball, cricket, tennis etc
  • Who likes to be social with others and their surroundings

Objectives of the course:

  • To demonstrate fine motor and gross skills with purpose and control
  • To demonstrate locomotor and non-locomotor movements
  • Show a special relationship between self and others and with objects
  • Encouragement to participate regularly in moderate physical activity outside physical education class
  • Follow rules and procedures with little reinforcement
  • Provide the opportunity for enjoyment, challenge, self-confidence through participation in new activities by exploring physical capabilities

Course Curriculum:

 Each session of one hour is divided into 4 parts (15 minutes each)

1) Warm-up

Each session begins with prayer like sitting in a sukhasana position, taking a few minutes to sit quietly to calm down children’s busy minds and body so that they can easily focus on the task ahead of them.

We also use music and movement to do the warm up in an engaging, simple, and a light hearted way to wiggle their bodies and emotions and to get them in momentum.

2) Core exercises

 Narration and explanation of stories will be done to include core exercises to increase their balance, flexibility, endurance, agility and speed while using various animal- yoga poses.

3) Games

We include different types of games to develop their eye-hand coordination, analytical reasoning and problem solving skills which also helps in building confidence.

4) Cool down

Each session will end with cool downs with chants of “Aum” which offers serene calmness and relaxation to mind as well as body.

With all these fun elements added to exercise, children will enjoy themselves while learning and loving a variety of different exercises without missing their outdoor play.
