The Magic of Kolams

Kolams have been a part of the Indian tradition. It is known by different names in different parts of India. Ideally, before sunrise, the courtyard of the house is swept and water or water mixed with cow-dung is sprinkled. Then a beautiful kolam is made. It is a silent prayer of gratitude to Mother Earth which decorates that place. While drawing a kolam, our body and mind are in total sync. Bending at the waist strengthens our back and legs. Our eyes and hands move in coordination to ensure all the dots put on the ground are looped.Sticking a sticker rangoli definitely adds to the beauty of the threshold of the house, but the benefits it gives are missed by the doer. So it is my humble attempt to spread the love of Kolams, so that it helps us both physically and mentally.
